Hi! My name is Sharon. I love animals, all animals. It’s who I am. I’ve now turned my passion into a small business. I can offer my clients tailored care for their pets. Whether it’s a simple dog walk at their local park, an extended play at the beach, a home visit to check on your pet and play with them while you’re away, or assist with their post-operative care, I can step in and be there when you can’t.
I am a volunteer at the RSPCA and have spent over 550 hours as a dog handler there.
I attend once a week and work mainly in the Dog Adoptions area. I am an L3 handler which means I am able to walk, care for and interact with the more difficult dogs at the shelter. I also guide younger less experienced volunteers and students.
In the recent past, I was also an assessor for Foster Care for animals from the RSPCA. I would attend people’s homes and assess them, the environment, and the physical site to make sure RSPCA sent their large and small animals (furry and feathered) to appropriate places/people for fostering.
I have over 10 years of experience as a Pet Therapist, taking my dogs to visit/interact with adults and children at various institutions and sometimes at home (end-of-life visits).
The wonderful places I have had the privilege of volunteering at include: Hummingbird House, Children’s Hospice Brisbane, Aged Nursing Homes and the ONJ Cancer & Wellness Centre (Austin Hospital Melbourne). Palliative Care Wards. My beautiful Golden Retriever LuLu, was the first Pet Therapy dog at the Centre. We even got to meet ONJ herself.
I am currently a Vet Assistant working part-time at Anvet Kedron. I am not a Vet Nurse, I assist in the clinic, and in particular care for dogs & cats brought in for surgery for the day. Dr Susan Dawson and the other vets and nurses at the clinic have taught me a lot, they know me, my skills, and my animal care experience. Anvet Kedron will happily recommend my services and can vouch for my honesty, integrity, and professionalism
